Meg Houston Maker
"Staying in touch with our customers is the most critical aspect of my job. At NextMark, we believe our clients know best how to get their jobs done right. We let that govern our design."
As Director of Product Management for NextMark, Meg manages design and implementation of our line of professional products and online services. Meg's scope ranges from "the big picture" to the details of the applications, but her main focus is always on the customer.
Meg is an interaction design professional with over a decade's experience creating interfaces for business applications. She supervised search interface design, Web development, and eCommerce application design for FOOTAGE.net, a portal serving film, TV, advertising and new media professionals. There she managed the Web deployment of millions of moving image records, thumbnails, and clips for archives such as NBC, ABC, CNN, Image Bank, and National Geographic. She also managed Web site design for many of these archives, including creating search portals for client data on each site, similar to NextMark's MarketMax Pro. Prior to FOOTAGE.net, Meg built custom databases and reporting interfaces for an ASP serving the commercial printing industry. She has library science training and follows the fields of Human-Computer Interaction and information retrieval. Meg graduated Summa cum Laude from Dartmouth College in 1987 with a B.A. in Fine Arts, and was elected to Phi Beta Kappa.
Meg is an avid organic gardener and experienced cook. Her volunteer efforts have included helping found an award-winning community organic garden project, Harvest Partners, whose produce is enjoyed by local shelters and food programs.
