Educate Your Students on Mailing ListsYou already know mailing lists are at the heart of every successful direct marketing campaign. But there are more than 65,000 mailing lists available and scores of new ones every day. How can you, as an educator, give your students better insight into this critical facet of direct marketing? Free mailing list research tool for EducatorsThe Direct Marketing Education Foundation ("DMEF") and NextMark have jointly developed a program to provide qualified educational institutions with free access to NextMark's List Research System. This program is intended to enhance your students' learning experience by providing a tool for completing class projects that involve selection of mailing lists for direct marketing campaigns. Previous experience shows your students will learn more using a "real world" tool with access to "real world" information in their assignments. Students love itNextMark's system has been proven to be very easy to use, fun to use, and an "eye-opener." More than 1,300 students from 40 schools have used the system to develop marketing plans and budgets for their school projects. Many have used it to compete in the DMEF's Collegiate ECHO competition. The results are impressive: every winner of the 2004 and 2005 Collegiate ECHO competition used the system to formulate their campaigns. Dr. Lisa Spiller, Professor of Marketing at Christopher Newport University, whose team won the 2005 Gold prize for undergraduates in Challenge 2: Orange Savings, says, "I have been teaching this database marketing course for five years. I have never seen the students so engaged in their projects as they were this year when using the NextMark system to develop their marketing strategies. We really appreciate access to this wonderful system." Teachers love itThe Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth College has been using the NextMark system for five years in their Database Marketing course. Professor Scott Neslin has found the system to be "a great resource for students conducting list selection projects." According Professor Neslin,
"I use the system in conjunction with a case we study called 'The Independent Adviser for Vanguard Investors.' The case portrays the situation where a manager is confronted with a set of available lists and must decide which one(s) to select for a customer acquisition campaign. The case is very useful for illustrating the role of customer lifetime value in list selection. However, the natural question is, 'Where do these lists come from in the first place?' The NextMark system answers that question and several more." See Using the NextMark List Search System in A Database Marketing Course for the complete review from the Tuck School of Business. Used by more than 40 schools todayThe NextMark system has been successfully used in direct marketing curriculum at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. Some of the more than 40 schools using the system include:
