November 14, 2001 Hanover, NH – NextMark today announced the election of Thomas J. “Tim” Litle to its Board of Directors. For more than 30 years, Tim has played a critical role in the growth and evolution of direct marketing. Recognizing and harnessing the potential of emerging technologies, Tim has consistently developed new ways to streamline and enhance the direct marketing process. From his ground-breaking use of computers for list maintenance and subscription fulfillment, the development of what eventually became the USPS Carrier Route Presort System, and changing the way all direct marketers process and receive credit card payments, Tim’s innovations stand as milestones in the evolution of an entire industry.
Tim Litle said, “NextMark impressed me with its vision for building technology that automates the tedious and mundane tasks that hobble the direct marketing process. Unlike most technologists, the staff at NextMark has a great deal of respect for tradition and an understanding of the key roles that people play in this process. NextMark’s technology elevates the value of people by automating the less glamorous aspects of their jobs and leaving more time for high value activities. NextMark has already delivered solutions for the list industry and is well on its way to realizing its full vision. I am delighted to help in this endeavor.”
Susan Rice Rappaport, president & COO of American List Counsel, said, “I have the highest regard for Tim. NextMark is fortunate to have Tim as part of its team.”
Joseph Pych, founder and president of NextMark, said, “Tim is a legend in this industry. Throughout his career, he has consistently produced technology to improve direct marketing. Much of his success can be attributed to the fact that he truly understands how people in the industry want to (and don’t want to) utilize technology to improve their businesses. Tim’s guidance will be a great help as we continue to strive towards our goal of streamlining the direct marketing process.”
Tim is an active advisor and investor in the Direct Marketing Industry through his own firm, Litle & Co. Prior to selling the operating part of its business to First USA, Litle & Co. was the leading provider of payment processing services to Direct Marketers. Tim is an active member of the Direct Marketing Association. He has been a member of the DMA Board of Directors, chairman of the DMA’s Committee on Ethical Business Practice and is currently a member of the DMA’s Privacy Task Force. Over the years, he has advised a number of companies and currently sits on several other boards including J. Jill. Tim holds a B.S. from Caltech and an MBA from Harvard Business School.
