NextMark’s Digital Referral Programs

Monday, December 15th, 2008

One of the benefits of a search engine optimized web site is that it works for you around the clock. It also generates incoming leads for products and services that you may not be equipped to handle. I can't think of a better problem to have! It is so nice to pick up the phone to call your friends and send them some business.

An occassional mailer will contact NextMark for some creative counsel, but most often we receive inquiries from SOHO direct marketers seeking a reputable list broker to guide them through the customer acquisition process.

Thanks to companies like Google and Commission Junction, the referral process can be made easy through their hosted affiliate programs. Many companies are creating their own programs by developing co-branded web sites and automated html generators. Ultimately, these programs may be leveraged to make the online experience a bit more friendly.

We've decided to test a few affiliate programs with NextMark's mailing lists search tool with the hopes that the convenience of these links will make it easier for our existing users and new visitors to reach their market.

NextMark’s Pych among B-to-B’s Who’s Who 2008

Tuesday, July 22nd, 2008

NextMark's Pych among B-to-B's Who's Who 2008B-to-B Magazine publishes an annual "who’s who" report that lists the innovators in the marketing community.  According to the story:

"This year’s Who’s Who in B-to-B Special Report features key thought leaders and movers and shakers across a broad spectrum of the marketing world. For this year’s report we focused on nine categories: marketers, agencies, direct and database, e-mail, search marketing, business media, services, analysts and associations. Nominations were submitted by readers, marketing organizations, industry experts and our editorial staff."

Here’s a nice surprise… they chose yours truly for 2008 and recognized the success of NextMark (the whole team deserves this honor!) in their "direct and database" segment because:

"Pych founded NextMark in 1999 with the vision of streamlining the direct marketing process and, in particular, mailing list procurement. Under his leadership, the company has delivered a number of innovations, including the application of modern search technologies to find mailing lists."

This is a nice ego boost. But when I look at the list of other recipients and their vast accomplishments, I have to wonder if we deserve to be among them.  We’ve had some success, but we have so much further to go to reach our goal of Customers On-Demand.  In the meantime, I’m quite honored to be on this list!

Target Marketing Reports on NextMark Intelligence

Friday, July 18th, 2008

NextMark revealed new list research behaviors this month in the July 2008 issue of Target Marketing magazine in an article titled "The Rise of Direct Marketing Freeconomics". According to their data card, the magazine has more than 45,000 active subscribers, insight on marketing strategies and tactics to improve their ability to sell through direct mail, telemarketing, and space advertising. Target_marketingMany of these readers are also marketing service providers who provide mailing lists, data, custom research, and statistical modeling services for their clients.

In the July 2008 issue, NextMark presents a case for the value of free competitive market intelligence that can be gathered online via list research portals. These tools are most commonly used to find mailing listspurchase mailing lists, and promote mailing lists – but there's more! List universe sizes, segment counts, hotlines, trends, pricing, selections and highly correlated lists are provided for more than 60,000 list titles. Now that's valuable information — especially if you don't have access to a paid list research application. We've seen exponential growth in the use of these online tools, and the fact that they're free makes them even more attractive sources of competitive information for direct marketers. If you want to promote your list owners' data cards, then this is the place to be!

NextMark awarded patent for mailing list selection techniques

Thursday, July 19th, 2007

I am happy to report that NextMark was just awarded US patent 7,246,077 entitled "Systems and Methods for Generating Highly Responsive Mailing Lists."  I am happy for 2 reasons: (1) we got it and (2) it’s finally over.

Regarding reason #2: the patent process takes a lot of patience.  We filed for this patent 7 years ago and it took this long to finally issue.  It’s been a long haul on this and I am happy we have finally reached the finish line.  Our lawyers at Foley Hoag were quite helpful in navigating the process.

Regarding reason #1: patents are by design very hard to get but the bar has recently been raised much higher on business method patents such as this one.  Your invention has to be very special to get approved.  So, it’s quite an honor to be awarded the patent with such high standards.
